I have a friend who has a hobby of birdwatching and always shows me the photo of birds. “There is no better way to start your day than listening to the sound of birds while breathing in the fresh air,” he said.

Yes, you can experience this if you come and have a visit to Penang Bird Park - the first of its kind in Malaysia which opened to the public in the year 1988. It’s situated at Seberang Jaya, about 5 minutes drive from Penang Bridge.

  

  

Various species of birds

This place allows you to discover more than 300 species of birds from all over the world. Of course, among these 300 species; 150 species are from Malaysia. This is also the place where you can spot 3000 birds living in more than 150 cages of various sizes.

         

Various species of birds - from the smallest sunbirds to gigantic ostriches

With having 2 Geodesic Domes and 2 giant sized Walk-In-Aviaries, it seems the natural habitat for all the birds in the park. Take your time to stroll around every corner of the park; you’ll discover its own beauty. From the smallest sunbirds to their gigantic 8-foot tall ostriches, there is always something that can catch your attention.

Yes! This little parrot caught my attention as it said “Hello” to me when I moved towards him. Wow, it surprises me! 😮😮😮

Waterfall - home for swans, flamingos, pelicans and colourful ducks

While you’re exploring the park, it’s easy to discover it’s built with a garden concept with collections of hibiscus, orchids, bamboos and palm trees. Continue your way and you’ll discover two natural ponds and cascading waterfalls is creating the home for swans, flamingos, pelicans and colourful ducks.

  

Chinese-style wooden bridge

Little Malay hut

Besides all these, how can you miss this beautiful Chinese-style wooden bridge and the little Malay hut during your visit to Penang Bird Park?

Mouse-Deer and Tortoise

Apart from various types of birds, you'll surprise Mouse-Deer - the smallest deer in the world, crocodiles, pythons, tortoises and much other wildlife are found in this park as well.

Bird show auditorium

Remember to move your step to the bird show auditorium and check out the bird show by the well-trained parrots and other birds. SMART TIP! 💡 There will be 2 sessions per day scheduled at 11.30 am and 3.30 pm daily. Take note it’ll be cancelled if it’s a rainy day.

  

Souvenir shop

Want to have some souvenirs before you leave? Make your way to the souvenir shop as there are plenty of choices like figurines, colourful fridge magnets and clothes for you to choose from.

Flamingo Cottage

If you’re hungry, you can even have a meal at the restaurant - Flamingo Cottage which serves local and western foods before you leave.
